North Tawton Diversity coffee morning
On Saturday 17th February North Tawton hosted a Diversity coffee morning. Councillor Christian Martin and parliamentary candidate Mark Wooding attended.
"It was very nice to meet the local community in North Tawton," said Mark Wooding "I had a number of excellent discussions with people, and enjoyed some excellent 'millionnaire's shortbread'.
"There was an interesting presentation from Devon and Cornwall police on combatting hate crime, and the importance of the public reporting instances of it.
"The coffee morning also heard about a planned 'Kite Festival' to take place on Pymouth Hoe on Saturday 27th July, to celebrate the city's diversity. I grew up in Plymouth, know the Hoe well, and have always enjoyed the annual fireworks show. So I think this should be a great addition to Plymouth's calendar of events. I'll be doing my best to dust off my long neglected kite and attend.
"My congratulations to the organisers of the coffee morning. I look forward to the next one."
If you experience a hate crime do report it. It may seem trivial but early action often can help those committing these acts to understand the impact their actions have. Report it here.
