Lib Dems Bring Improvements to Crediton Recycling Centre

Punchbowl Recycling Centre in Crediton is being improved. A major scheme implemented by Devon County Council is expected to be completed by early March and will improve the site layout and facilities.

The alterations will separate lorries servicing the site from the area used by the visiting public and make the site safer and easier for the public to access. Improvements will include providing space for vehicles queuing to get in, a concrete bay for garden waste and a separate fenced off area for the re-sale of goods.

County Councillor Sally Morgan, who is also the Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate for Central Devon, said " The site was the best performing small recycling centre in Devon last year and will remain open to the public seven days a week, as normal, whilst the alterations are going on. It is the enthusiasm of the staff and public who use the site which contributes to our overall recycling rate, which recently topped a record 50%. These improvements will make the site safer and more convenient for local people to use."

Cllr Morgan added "The existing site layout has often resulted in cars queuing to use the site, blocking the adjacent single carriageway road. The scheme will help to resolve this problem as well as providing improved recycling facilities on site, such as a much needed properly surfaced bay area for garden waste."
